How do I use and fill a SWMS document?

Each SWMS template will have its own instructions on how to complete them. If you’ve downloaded a barebones SWMS template that isn’t job specific, the thing you need to do is list each task, identify all the risks associated with each task, and explain the control measures to minimise the risks before having workers sign and date each item.

For our purchased documents that are specific to jobs, we use an easy to follow Safety Matrix that allows you to assign a “Risk Score” to each hazard as well as a “Residual Risk Score”. A full “How to complete this Safe Work Method Statement” is included as part of every document.
