Risk Control Measures

  • Allow the blade to reach full speed before cutting, do not force the blade and always start the cut gently
  • Do not operate the saw with the retractable guard tied back or the trigger tied on
  • Ensure:
    • Blade has fully stopped turning before placing the saw down
    • The lower guard has retracted to the closed position
  • NOTE: Large off-cuts can be unstable, can affect the cut and result in operator injury Ensure large off-cuts are supported and removed safely
  • Stay alert – concentrate on what you are doing at all times and be aware of kickback
  • Wear non-slip, closed in footwear
  • Assess suitable travel pathway to enter house with load
  • Check for stairs, stored items, corners or other obstructions that could cause tripping, crushing of fingers, damage to glass or awkward postures when carrying the load
  • Maintain and sweep floor of saw dust to eliminate slips
  • When working on a ladder, do not over reach. Descend ladder and re-position as required
  • Ensure floor area clear of trip hazards when placing ladder. Check for overhead hazards
  • Ensure current Material/Safety Data Sheets (M/SDS) are obtained for all hazardous chemicals/substances and accessible on site
  • Consult M/SDS for the product
  • Use PPE as per the product safety sheet
  • Handling doors / materials etc.:
  • Ensure at least 2 persons for task
  • Lift smoothly, do not jerk
  • Avoid any twisting and side-bending during lift
